Awakening Touch founder Marcio Ribeiro has been studying therapeutic modalities and personal growth for the past 8 years. Here is what he has to say about himself and the journey
of healing.
Marcio: “I was first introduced to a therapeutic modality as a young teenager when I first saw an acupuncture session being performed. That sparked an inquisitive energy that never stopped.
Since then, I decided to major in Physiotherapy. I studied Physiotherapy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on the very town I was born called Sao Caetano do Sul. I graduated from
Universidade do Grande ABC (University of Greater ABC).
In 1998 after a year of Junior Internship training at a Physiotherapy clinic devoted to Sports, Rheumatology, Orthopedics and Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation, I was in charge of the Physiotherapy clinic
at Sao Paulo Private Hospital. There I spent half a year where I had a great opportunity of my life.
I had a chance to move to China and embarked on my studies of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I arrived
at China in the end of 1999, without knowing Chinese. But with an incredible eagerness to learn, I devoted myself to
the Chinese language for a year. In the meantime I worked as physiotherapist at the well known medical center in Shanghai called World Link Medical Center.
There, a team of physicians, radiologists, nurses, physiotherapy (myself) and Chinese Acupuncturists worked daily with an enormous amount of patients as we were the only medical care provider for expatriates living in Shanghai at that time.
From a daily busy physiotherapy practice to my daily morning classes of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the University of TCM of Shanghai China I spent my 3 and half years of life in China. I loved it and learned a lot, from my dearest clients to my colleagues and teachers at 5 different local Chinese hospitals.
It was not just a life but a tremendous adventure and learning experience that will never leave me.
On Chinese New Year of 2003, my wife & I decided to move to Singapore. Since
then, it has been 4 wonderful years and more to come. With the opening of Awakening Touch healing center, I provide you care and guidance to your self-healing.
In the last 5 years I have also been introduced to two amazing healing modalities that have added value to my personal growth and to my clients' healing journey. These modalities are The BodyTalk System™ and CranioSacral Therapy®.
I have been inspired and touched by how deep and gentle these therapeutic tools
have increased the ability to self-heal, to gain awareness and most of all to experience a true sense
amongst my clients, and on myself.
